Hopefully it's been a good week for all of you so far.
Roo and Kim, it seems like the smoke and ash has cleared down here so I'm guessing it has where you live as well. So it should no longer be getting harder and harder to breathe =) By the way Rodel, you should try Gunbound. It's a fun online game that Roger, Pat, Adam... (basically the lake forest/irvine crew) have been playing lately. It's like Tank Wars only much happier.
I'll float some ideas by you and just let me know what sounds good.....
Ice skating
Miniature Golf
I'd suggest watching a movie but Matrix Revolutions doesnt come out till next week
Rent a movie
Go out and eat (Just let me know what type of food and I can make suggestions)
Binge on left over halloween candy.. j/k
Then again.. we could always fall back on things we normally do...
Watch Queer-Eye
Play Cards
Get your butts kicked at super smash >=D
Sit around trying to figure out what to do
Anyway, if you guys have any ideas or if you have anything that you need to do or would like help with.. that could always be a potential activity as well.
Boo on Studying Hard!

I left my house in the middle of the day today and as soon as I stepped outside, I started coughing like I had asthma because of all the ash in the air.
I finally got my letters of rec from my professor! That's two down, one to go. The last is from my boss at work and he'll have them ready by tomorrow. My boss said I could come to work today to look at the draft. When I came, I had to wait outside, since I'm locked out, and while waiting, I was talking with one of the picketers who happens to be the fifth manager, but is part of the union so he is also locked out. He told me that I can collect unemployment checks during this time!!!!! I was surely shocked and thought he was kidding because technically, I am still employed, just locked out. However, he assured me it was true and that some of my fellow employees have already been approved. I simply have to call the number or apply online. Not only will I be paid for all the days I am off work, but they will reimburse me for the past two weeks in which I haven't been able to work. And though I intially felt that I did not want to sponge off of the government, my coworker informed me that the money is entitled to me because where it comes from is the weekly tax deductions that come out of my checks. SO, tomorrow I'm going to the unemployment office... wherever that is. =)
It's okay, Lisa, if you want to cross the picket line. I'd surely like to go back to work someday soon, but I understand that Albertson's has better prices and all. I really don't even know if it makes a difference. I've been hearing a lot of different stuff. A few days ago I heard there was supposed to have been a press conference last week, and then today I heard there will be one next week. Some are even saying it might end next week, but who knows. I originally heard it would only last 2-3 days because the feds were going to get involved, and now it's been 17 days. And plus, now the feds and all are concernced with the huges fires, which BTW, I do think is more important that our petty union war. Alas though, I wish I could go back to work. These past two weeks of relaxation have been fabulous, but after laying around and having absolutely nothing to do, I realize that I most certainly cannot be a housewife because I would be bored out of my mind and probably have an affair with like, the mailman or poolboy.
SF was a lot of fun the first day. I'd never travelled alone before, so it was kinda scary at first, but definitely a rich experience. Now I know I can make it up there alone if I get the chance. *cross fingers* I took buses and streetcars and cable cars everywhere, as well as did a whole lotta walking. I can't remember the last time I did so much walking. Interestly enough, there is a very ecletic bunch of people in SF. I never noticed that before because I've always travelled there before in a car, but this time I had the opportunity to witness and interact with them because of all the walking. I went to Golden Gate Park, and I've been there before, but this time I went through a different entrance and found that lots of homeless people reside there. However, it was certainly nice to enjoy some peacefulness at a quiet part of the park. Afterwards, I did some shopping at the oh-so-cool shops and had dinner at fisherman's wharf. The guy at the place I bought my dinner asked if I wanted beer. I thought it was cool he assumed I was old enough to drink beer. *AHEM: 31 days guys!!!*
The next day was pretty hectic. I had to wake up early to make it to the UCSF info session day. I almost missed my bus because I couldn't find the attendant to the hotel. I had to drop my key off and lug my bag to the session and stash it under my chair. The session was certainly informative, but because it ran over, I missed my bus, thus missed my shuttle, thus missed my plan, thus my boat!!! Albert, I hope you had fun watching the show in my seat and eating my salmon and cheesecake. Although I was totally bummed to have missed the boat shindig, it was cool to see mokroo, especially since I didn't think I was going to be seeing them this past weekend. Next week I propose tennis, although Lisa says she will be out so we'll have to improvise on the place for after-tennis chillaxin'.
So Kress, why was Monday a good day? Kids were behaving?
Rodel, study hard.
Albert, you study hard too.
Lisa, hope the bigger class won't eat you alive.
Pat, you were on the boat too!
And P.S. Mraz tickets are $26, so that's what you guys owe me with the exception of the Taco who owes me more for also the Maroon 5 tickets... and I don't know what that number is now so don't ask me. Also, I still need to give Lisa for the next Maroon 5 tickets as well as my share of Justin's gift, so I'm actually in deficit and I actually owe her. Night all, and remember, 31 days!

i've had a hard time breathing in this nice ashy weather that we are having.
And so I lost my voice during Friendship Games, all filipino clubs get together to meet and play games. I also lost my hearing temporarily as I was next to the speakers during halftime modern dancing perfomances.
So I've had a craving for Dole's Peach-Orange-Mango just to help my throat get better.
I love my hunny. I love ya.
Okies back to studying.

hey folks,
Sorry about the weekend. I'm sure things didn't go according to plan for must of us. I didn't expect to find myself on a boat bobbing about in the pacific that night... I don't know how I get myself into such odd predicaments. Anyway, if you're not all busy, I'll try to come up with something we can do on the weekend and I'll make it work. Scouts honor. Hopefully environmental conditions will improve. It's seriously not healthy to be breathing all the ash and other particles in the air. Saturday was probably the worst day. I could actually stare at the sun. I saw some blue skies earlier this morning so I'm hoping things will be getting better soon and that the winds will just blow everything away.
I hope your cookies turned out well Lisa. I know things are going to be hectic since you'll be getting a new and 75% bigger class soon. At least they'll be getting a top notch teacher right? =)
Kim, werent you supposed to be on that boat instead of me? Wasnt I supposed to be hanging with the mokroo instead of you? O_O? Oh well, I hope your trip to SF was fun.
There's been so much work to do... yet so little motivation to do it. I've been going to bed pretty late as well... even for me... I can't even say the night is still young... 4-5 is just not right.. I didnt think I was capable of it either... not since high school anyway. So yes kress, to some degree I know how you feel.
Have you played any tennis at all lately roo? Perhaps your wrist is better. I havent had a chance to play lately but I was doing pretty well with my racket when I was practicing with roger. Too bad this weather doesnt permit much of anything outdoorsy.
Anyway, I'll keep in touch with short blogs during the week. If you want to let me know anything then this is probably the best way to do it.

isn't it horrible when you really should go to sleep and you want to go to sleep...but you can't freaking go to sleep??
hence the reason why i am blogging at 1am.
i have lots of work i could and should do...but i feel like something is wrong with me. i just don't know...i feel a bit out of it...i feel like i'm lonely, but i don't want to bothered...something like that. or maybe that's just how tonite feels.

sorry lisa for all your teaching woes...when i am a parent, you better believe i will go to parent conferences, back to school nites and open houses... =) it'll be ok... =)
teaching felt pretty ok today...i think my very first time i was really nervous, but i'm not so nervous in front of this teacher and it's no longer my first time teaching...hehe, so i guess i felt better about today. this class is more disruptive in terms of behavior, but i think things went ok...the kids usually asleep weren't sleeping today...the lame comments and rolling eyes were minimal...and i actually had class participation since i ask them questions directly. afterwards, i talked to the teacher and she said that i was good today and the only problems she saw were that i should make them be quiet before i start talking again [to save my own voice] and that some were not doing the work in the end and that maybe i should pull them aside and talk with them...move them to a different seat...or some other action to show them i mean business...
ok, here's the thing. this teacher lectures for part of the period and usually there's a good amount of time left. she usually gives them bookwork or a worksheet to work on at the end...sometimes there can be anywhere from 5-25 minutes left...the average i would say is 10-15 though. so...you give kids free time everyday? what do they do?? they don't do their work!! they shove it into their backpacks, don't look at it again and don't turn it in the next day. and this has been going on all year long now, so they are used to it and don't really care if anyone else tries to change things up. and i am the type of teacher who HATES when students 1) pack up while there's still class time or while i'm still talking 2) gets up out of their seats to wander about or stand by the door and 3) do not do their work for the remainder of the period even though i give them time to do so...these are pet peeves...and of course, this class does them all. but i can't do anything cuz it's not my class and when they become my class, they most likely won't do as i say cuz they'll say...well the other teacher let us...yada yada.
so yes, this is a problem for me...today, they were really good. they paid attention, answered my questions, asked me questions on the worksheet. but...close to the end, i know my teacher wanted me to give them this worksheet and i didn't want to cuz i knew they probably wouldn't do it. but i said very loudly and threateningly that if i give them time to do work in class, they better work on it in class for the rest of the period. so, most of them did and stayed in their seats to do their work...but there were 5-10 who did not. they got up to chat, wander about and just put it away...and i tried reasoning with them about it but they shrugged it off...i think mostly because the teacher lets them get away with it. and it's my first day to ever teach that class and i don't want to be the badass...geez. dilemmas. and for her to make those comments to me...i wouldn't have such problems if you didn't let them get away with it in your own classes...but i can't talk to her that way. i like her and we get along...she usually has excellent control over the class. but i like to teach from bell to bell...and her style does not correlate to mine in that sense.
i've asked some teachers about what i should do...i've heard her answer..my other master teacher's answer...and a professor's at my school. i'm open to suggestions guys... =) and this is just 3rd period...imagine 6th period general science with more than a handful of identified special ed kids, probably the same amount that are unidentified, and little sophomore thugs who hate school and curse at you if need be...this period usually ends earlier than the others too...like 10-30 minutes sometimes....oh boo woeful teaching days. it would be a miracle to get them seated and lovely all period long. we'll have to see how that goes...
despite my concerns, i felt pretty ok with my teaching today...i don't know if anytime soon i'll feel like i've nailed it. but both my master teachers say that i'm doing a good job thus far...let's just hope they're not lying... =)

Omg...i never get online anymore! parent conferences all week...you know...only a small percentage of parents actually care and show up to these damn things! i've had to reschedule on so many b/c parents think i'll leave them alone if they just don't show up! crazy! promise me when you have kids you'll care enough to show up at school events!!! =)
kress...hope teaching went well! =) omg, i'm soo excited for you, you're journey seems prosperous so far and will continue to be so, i know. you put so much time and effort into you're planning and assignments, any district would be fool not to hire you after all this! =)
kim...i'm sorry, aren't computers a pain in the backside! it's that love/hate relationship =). no worries about the job situation, things will look up soon...i hope =). unfortunately hawaii looks like a thing of the future and not the 2003 future. sorry...tutorials are scheduled, but we don't know when, so i'll probably be at school most of my month "off".
albert...thanks, you just haven't seen me after i get home from school!! anyone who gets between me and my bed is in for a rude awakening! =) ah, i'm using the luck this week =)
rodel...hope alls going well and hope you're fully healed =)

albert...thanks, you just haven't seen me after i get home from school!! anyone who gets between me and my bed is in for a rude awakening! =) ah, i'm using the luck this week =)
rodel...hope alls going well and hope you're fully healed =)
patrick...hello distant kroopal, i know you're out there! =) hope vegas was casino-rific.
mmmm, this weekend, let me know, i think i'll join you guys for a bit but unfortunately i have a date...a date with my computer and planbook that is =). with a whole new class coming in next week, i've got a lot to do to get ready =s. so, until i see you all this weekend...*big big hug* =)
Sorry for the late entrance... yes, there's nothing that says stylin like a 3 am arrival...
Thanks for letting borrow 2f2f kress. Yes, it was very enjoyable. It's just one of those simple and fun movies. It didn't try to be more than it was and that made it easy to watch. Goodness, this is only the first of many sequels that I'll be watching. Matrix Revolutions comes out november, LoTR Return of the King comes out decemeber, and Kill Bill volume 2 comes out in february. Scary movie 3 comes out this month as well but I think it's a very questionable movie. So many good movie sequels to look forward to.
Your teacher sounds crazier than me. Much crazier than me in fact. He works at least 40 hours a week and yet is able to muster the energy to go to Haunt, a KISS/AEROSMITH concert!, and disneyland to top it off! Jeez, he does in one weekend what might take me 3 weekends to do. Anyway, congratulations on your latest steps to teacherdom, Kress. Oh yes, and boo on the kids who did not try and failed... I know it's mean to say.. but perhaps one day maybe your kids grades will reflect your ability as a teacher.... and maybe failure would occur less often if we were like the japanese... "We do not reward knowledge! WE PUNISH IGNORANCE!" <- perhaps one of the greatest simpsons' quotes....
Hey roo, havent seen you in a while? How have you been doing? I hope your injuries have healed up nicely so you can go back to doing the things you enjoy like basketball. Have you seen the latest strongbad e-mail "mile"? It's pretty ridiculous.. but of course funny as usual. There's also a new fluffy puff commercial as well.
Kim, your computer sounds as if it could use a tune-up or perhaps a reformat. Yes, nothing like obliterating your hard drive in order to fix your software troubles... hehe.. except for building an entirely new computer... And yes, I knew melee was a word.. and what a gloriously beautiful word it is.... I believe i too have to thank video games for adding hat word to my vocab.. although I knew about quite a long time ago...
I really dont know what you're talking about lisa. You dont seem despondent or crabby at all... anyway, good luck during the week. I know you have a lot to do.
Anyway, let's come up with something a lil more definite in terms of plans for the weekend. Oh yes, I'm glad I got that car tune-up... spark plugs are only meant to last 15-20 thousand miles.. not 30 thousand... =)

i get to teach tomorrow!! 3rd period...woot. =) oh, cell organelles, how i love to teach thee...hehe. i haven't taught 3rd period yet, so we shall see...although they can be a problematic class i think...i will teach about some organelles and go over their extra credit project of the 3-D cell. we'll see how it goes. =)
Grrr.... first aol, now adobe acrobat reader is acting up.
Twas a fairly low key weekend for me. Going to target was probably the biggest thing I did. I did a lot of reading and relaxing a well. No end in sight for the strike.
Kress, you're not old, you're just studying and working for your credential right now. Once you get it and become a bonafide teacher, you'll be like your master teacher. With fewer worries, you'll live it up and bask in your success. I mean, it seems as if Lisa parties much more these days, yes? And I meant to tell you earlier but you left before I had the chance. You should never feel bad about expressing your opinions or feelings. If anything, you should be proud dammit. There are some, present company included a la moi, that don't have the capacity or maturity to express how they feel or what they think. Additionally, you should also be proud for owing up to your responsibilities and at the same time acknowledging others concerns. Rock on sista'. =)
Did you guys know that melee is a real word? All this time I thought it was just a video game. I was doing a thesarus search for 'battle' and on the list was mêlée. Cool.

so someone this past weekend went to halloween haunt on friday...went to a KISS/Aerosmith concert saturday...and disneyland on sunday.
it was my teacher. i'm more than ten years younger than him...and i am a slug. =)
it's like he's living the young college shenanigan life and i'm in the bone-crackling mid-life crisis era or something...oh how old i feel now.

hey!! so it's the weekend and i finally get to blogging about teaching...be forewarned, excessive amounts of information are about to be placed here...if you are interested in my obscure teaching life, read on, otherwise this may be one for you to skip.. =)
10.14.03
it was a tuesday...my 5th period is studying the cell organelles. and i am going to teach them.
if you know me at all, you know i'm the mother of all worriers...i want everything to go just as planned, just perfect but in life there are rare occasions where such perfection is seen, especially in a classroom. the nite before i was up all nite, preparing for 5th period to teach by myself for the first time ever...and also preparing my lesson for methods class to present to them...so in a sense, i taught twice that day [although methods seems less intimidating]. i was nervous as 5th period narrowed in on me, and strange things happened that day as well. I came 3rd period (where they reviewed for the test) and then i observed 4th period to help prepare me for 5th...during lunch, a student came up to me and told me that i was the prettiest teacher he's ever had...and he kept coming up to me to talk to me or perhaps just to stand near me...good gracious, i hope he did not come up to get a sniff of my shampoo or something. hehe..so anyways, as that sort of freaked me out and my teacher [who didn't really hear the comments that were made but saw the student near me] told me the student had a crush on me and for me to "watch out" - whatever that may mean. so that may have thrown me off a little...
5th period began...and my teacher is awesome. it's edification time!! he talked to the class prior to me teaching and explained the student teacher process and all that...so the kids could understand where i came from...so he turned it over to ms. nguyen and they started clapping a little...hehe. and then i started...i began by asking how many people did not like to speak in front of the class, and most raised their hands...and then i told them that i felt the same way...or at least used to. but i want to be a teacher, so i need to speak in front of the class...and that since it was my first time, i had a bunch of butterflies...and this is when i instituted the jar of fear [a tiny glass jar] when i held it up, no one seemed to think much of it...but when i told them that it had each of their names in it, they freaked. when i review, i will use the jar of fear to call on people and the person i call will answer my question...so the jar was opened and we reviewed cell theory and microscopes. then i started into the cell types, some cell organelles and reviewed a little on cell membrane and proteins. as i taught, i had this cool powerpoint on cells...but my computer froze...and in the middle of lecturing, the principal comes on the loud speaker and says there is an emergency, mandatory staff meeting after school...so yeah, the day obviously had its obstacles. at the end of the period, my stomach felt worse than at the beginning...maybe because i thought my "performance" wasn't so great...my teacher had a lot of great comments for me and a few things for me to improve on, but overall he said i did very well...so that is great to hear, but being my own worst critic, i didn't feel so confident about it all...but now i guess i feel better about it and i'm not so nervous at the thought of teaching them again...so all in all, it went better than anticipated...oh, and that teacher meeting...turns out someone has bacterial meningitis and the school sent home letters to every student saying just that...there's no better way to start a frenzy i think..hehe. oh well, i think the school is ok and no one should feel endangered...but it was pretty cool to talk about what meningitis is to the classes...
10.16.03
on this day, my other teacher had a substitute...so for 3rd period, i talked to them about how they think they did on their tests...most thought they failed, and it turned out that this is true...sadly. i also talked to them about how many of them studied, and none of them really did...and then i started talking about how i would begin teaching and they got excited about that, but that in exchange for me working hard and trying to make the material interesting for them to learn, they must pay attention and do their work...they agreed, but i don't know how whole heartedly this was done...they seem to think i will be immensely better than the teacher now...but we shall see.
for 6th period, the life science kids had a test the next day and the teacher asked me to do the review. and i did...the kids worked together on it, and with about 20 minutes left, i went over the entire review with them...and it was good and bad. i had to project my voice about 3 times louder than normal because they are a big class with lots of special ed kids, so it's hard for me to have control over the class...but for the most part, they paid attention, took notes and were relatively quiet...more than usual anyway. when i go to school tomorrow, i will find out how well they did or did not do...i just hope for the love of science that some passed.
despite all of the unknown, the thought of missing school kills me...i love being there, despite the odd school boy crushes, the butterflies, the punk sarcasm, the lack of interest in science and the thug-like mentality of some, in addition to none of them really, truly liking school...but none of that matters. i still love it...and that might be the ultimate test of it all...hooray for the odd, funny & lazy high school kids. =)

I don't like AOL in general but then again, I guess it's fine for most people. However, they've been on a downward slope lately and have slowly been losing market share to cheaper dial-up competitors and to broadband services. They'll be launching a cheaper dial-up service under the guise of "Netscape Internet" so they don't have to lose face but they'll still offer their regular service.
Anyway, I hope you're ok roo. Those razors are pretty dangerous! Heck, just about anything with wheels is dangerous =)

i can't really tell if aol 9 is cool or not and it also depends upon the specs of your computer, i just use it to log onto the internet, although, it takes a while to finally finsih loading cause it has a delay when I press Log On to dial up.
I fell victim to a miseralble fall on my razor scooter at school and i'm cut up in three fingers on my right hand, the top of my right hand, and my left knee. I was taped up by some good peoples in my filipino club hangout. I thought I wouldn't be the one that that would happen to, but it did, so they say "I joined the club" (of people who fell and saw it at school). Today, i'm not going to be playing, the scab on my knee bothers me, as like a hurt tingle, but not serious. I can walk still dammit.
Dat Phan, from "Last Comic Standing" is performing tomorrow at our school $5 to get in, and free for csulb students. I don't get to watch cause my dad needs my car, van engine dead, at 7, that's when the show starts.

so far, aol 9 has not been very cool. it freezes sporadically on me. boo...
lol, kress, it took me a long time to figure out what auhsd was. shouldn't read these blogs so late at night. but hey, i was up until 3 trying to finish my essays.
i saw kill bill on friday. it was the first movie i've seen in a long time. it's fairly good i suppose. some parts were kinda gory and i had to cover my eyes. my friend made fun of me. although, most of the gore is kinda cheesy, but in a funny way. some really good fight scenes for sure.
yeah, no work yesterday or today. strike and lockout is still on. may last longer than a week. no work for a week? at first, i looked forward to a few days off, but now, it ain't looking good for the broke one here. O_o
mraz tickets finally came in the mail. only three weeks away. cheers all =D

howdy mokroopals.. =)
today was an interesting day. auhsd had a teacher inservice day, so no students but the teachers had to be at school. there are six student teachers at katella hs...and i was the only one to go today. it kind of bothers me...i mean, i know that we're not "teacher" teachers...but come on, being a teacher is more than just standing in the classroom...it's meetings, it's budgets, it's setting ridiculous goals to meet state/federal requirements....it's more than meets the eye. i think it's important to learn about all of this...and even though i had to be at school at 8am, i'm glad i was there. it doesn't matter if the info given wasn't stimulating or new....or how teachers hated every second of it...the real teacher experience comes out dealing with this stuff in addition to teaching students. i also like to go to as many school activities as possible...so i went to the groundbreaking ceremony...back to school knight...staff meetings...inservice day...a volleyball game. i mean, i want to be involved not just because it might look good for me, but because i think that's what teachers should do and they should be involved with the school. talking with my master teacher he said he was kind of disappointed to hear that other master teachers said not to come because it would be boring...i agree. it wasn't a punishment...i've had worse than today. i just think it's not cool that some student teachers will be hired right away and not be involved with school while others will work their patoots off and not get hired...but what can i say...
i learned some stuff today...and some stuff was just crap, but you have to get used to it. i was around my master teacher all day today...and we decided i would teach tomorrow. hooray? hehe...i'm nervous, it's performance anxiety..hehe. but he says he knows i will be good from the time he's spent with me so far...i guess i'll see tomorrow...and you'll hear from me tomorrow =) i get to review cell theory, microscopes and membranes...then teach about prokaryotes/eukaryotes and some cell organelles...hehe. it's a lot...but i'm afraid i'm going to whoosh through it all with lots of time left...hopefully i will be able to slow it down. i'll be showing them a sample powerpoint i did for class on the cell and along with that i'll be lecturing...scary eh?? hehe...well, it is!
thanks lisa for the oscal...i will give you the money the next time i see you. you got me apples? did you stop the diet? 7lbs is great! that's like in 5 days or so...for those who do not know, i got a copy of this 2 week diet from work where you eat a specific menu of food each day of the week...after 2 weeks, you stop the diet completely and go back to normal eating...but just lessening any high amounts of carbs you may have taken before. in approximately 2 weeks, if followed correctly, you lose around 20lbs. and you may think it's absurd...but i've seen it work for a bunch of people...and it began working for lisa. rodel is trying it now...but i haven't done it. i can't say no to good home-cooked food from my mom.. =) what if she made pho in those 2 weeks? hehe...
albert, i can't believe you drove to and from san francisco...twice! you are a silly mofo...
kimmy...you are not meek. but i concur with albert, you are not confident in the arrogant, directly aggressive manner...you are direct but not commandingly so. but do not fret, i'm a 23 year old teacher who sounds like she's 9...who laughs after every statement she makes..hehe =)
rodel...*big heart hug* =)
today was an interesting day. auhsd had a teacher inservice day, so no students but the teachers had to be at school. there are six student teachers at katella hs...and i was the only one to go today. it kind of bothers me...i mean, i know that we're not "teacher" teachers...but come on, being a teacher is more than just standing in the classroom...it's meetings, it's budgets, it's setting ridiculous goals to meet state/federal requirements....it's more than meets the eye. i think it's important to learn about all of this...and even though i had to be at school at 8am, i'm glad i was there. it doesn't matter if the info given wasn't stimulating or new....or how teachers hated every second of it...the real teacher experience comes out dealing with this stuff in addition to teaching students. i also like to go to as many school activities as possible...so i went to the groundbreaking ceremony...back to school knight...staff meetings...inservice day...a volleyball game. i mean, i want to be involved not just because it might look good for me, but because i think that's what teachers should do and they should be involved with the school. talking with my master teacher he said he was kind of disappointed to hear that other master teachers said not to come because it would be boring...i agree. it wasn't a punishment...i've had worse than today. i just think it's not cool that some student teachers will be hired right away and not be involved with school while others will work their patoots off and not get hired...but what can i say...
i learned some stuff today...and some stuff was just crap, but you have to get used to it. i was around my master teacher all day today...and we decided i would teach tomorrow. hooray? hehe...i'm nervous, it's performance anxiety..hehe. but he says he knows i will be good from the time he's spent with me so far...i guess i'll see tomorrow...and you'll hear from me tomorrow =) i get to review cell theory, microscopes and membranes...then teach about prokaryotes/eukaryotes and some cell organelles...hehe. it's a lot...but i'm afraid i'm going to whoosh through it all with lots of time left...hopefully i will be able to slow it down. i'll be showing them a sample powerpoint i did for class on the cell and along with that i'll be lecturing...scary eh?? hehe...well, it is!
thanks lisa for the oscal...i will give you the money the next time i see you. you got me apples? did you stop the diet?

Hey people, how were your weekends?
Hehe.. thats pretty cool that you could say you got Arnold's autograph on your diploma, Roo. I have Bill Clinton's signature on some presidential award I got back in elementary. Yeah, Bill is the man and Arnold, he eez duh gubbanah!
Speaking of Bill.... MUST SEE KILL BILL! I've been waiting to see it but haven't gotten a chance to do so yet. I do love my action flicks. What is this Kressler Diet I hear about anyway?
Kim, you're not exactly meek but I don't consider you to have strong self confidence in the American sense. I dunno, that sort of self-confidence requires you to not only be direct but aggressive and almost obtrusive even.
I hope you enjoyed the food Lisa. Hmm... i wonder which is more fun.. dieting or eating? =) Anyway, it won't matter because maybe we can work it off with some tennis this weekend..
Hows a game of tennis sound folks? Yes, shannanigans, katanas, exercise, and blogs are good.

and i also hope you all saw howie day on conan o'brien friday too...even though i had no idea he'd be on, it was so cool. he performed *perfect time of day* and i really liked it...howie day, i heart ya man! =)
this weekend i did nothing..hehe. i didn't go out...the only thing i did do was see KILL BILL...and other than that, nothing. =) it felt good actually...but i'm sure by next weekend i'll be yearning for weekend shenanigans. =)

i just saw KILL BILL today....and let me tell you, it kicked ass.
now, i really am not for crazy action, gory detail and mindless action...and this movie had all of those, but it was well scripted, hilarious and surprisingly made a truly ridiculous storyline seem utterly believable...and for these reasons, i really liked it. i could do without all the severed limbs, gushing blood and other stuff...but there's a lot of cool japanese sword fighting, anime and dialogue...kressler recommends. =)
i still have no explanations for 2fast 2furious.. =)

hooray!!! it's friday!! =) well, i don't know what the plans are for tomorrow...but i'll be in oak glen for awhile, eating and eating =) i lost 7 lbs on your diet kress!! but .... the chicken and apples temptation is toooooooo strong...we only ever go once a year and we missed last year! so, alas, that plus justin's bbq....it's just as well to break this diet halfway through. must find something less restricting on meals =).
i hope everyone is resting well, or partying hard, both are good things =) kress....catch some zzzzzzz!!! =)
kim, you are much louder once we get to know you =) and much more outspoken =) so, don't worry....if that professor only got to know you =).
okie dokie....i'll be in touch tomorrow to see if anyone's game for some fun and excitement =) (or just some relaxation, that would be awfully nice too =) ) so until then...have FUN!

i can't remember if i asked you guys this yet, but i'm taking a mini-poll for observations. do i come off as meek to you? i was talking with a professor, and we were going over what i thought were my best qualities. i said i thought i had strong self-confidence, and he told me i looked meek. talk about blow to my self-esteem. he then told me i probably felt like i had strong self-confidence, but it came off to him more as a quiet self-confidence and that i looked meek. a lot of people are telling me that i'm quiet when you first meet me, but once you get to know me, i'm quiet talkative and loud. meh, i dunno...
albert, i started out reading your essay with interest, and somewhere in the middle i started thinking to myself, "wow, this thing is never really going to end." =) however, i did read the disclaimer and all so i have no grounds to complain. and also, i totally agree with you. i'm still mystified by the fact that Ah-nold is now our govenor-elect. i know people only voted for him because of his celebrity status. if people were to boast a brain cell or two, none of this would be happening, not even the recall election for that matter. people, this great state of ours is now in the hands of the kindergarten cop.
and btw, i don't know where you got the idea that i have a stellar gpa, albert, but thanks for the thought. my gpa is mediocre, above average at best. =) also, if you're still looking for a pharmacy job, my boss is asking if i can recommend anyone. i told him i'd have to think about it.
fear not, kress, for i remembered to record Mraz today. i haven't watched yet, but i eagerly anticipate. i saw the first few minutes of the show, and yes, they were mocking us californians and our new governor. i didn't know we were such a hot topic for national debate.
guys, i don't think i am cut out for the 40 hour work week. it's already wednesday and i'm exhausted. i'm pretty sure the majority of employees of albertsons, vons and ralphs have voted to strike, SO, that means next week will be a nice little vacation for me. someone at work might persuade me to picket line and barricade the driveways. you might see me on TV, what do you think?

Ahh.. the political arena... its more gruesome, ugly, and backstabbing than even the Coliseum of Rome in the days of yore...
*Folks, I'm sorry for the long political rant but I need to get it out of my system... please feel free to skip down to the part where it says "STOP SKIPPING!"*
<== START SKIPPING! ==>
It's strange how two parties can bicker and squabble so much... like 2 children (although I do unfortunately favor one over the other) but neither in my opinion are truly great (especially the other, yeah, damnit, I'm partially biased)... I guess it's good that they keep one another in balance but they both have been getting more and more extreme in order to balance one another out... what happened to just trying to be balanced in the first place and work from there? I don't like coloring within the political lines of a party.. its not fun... I'd like to have free reign over my thoughts and going completely one way or the other is simple tyranny... the only difference is that you get to pick your tyrants... Whatever happen to reason, responsibility, and respect? Oh, I forget.. this is politics which we speak of... its sad to see so few politicians who stand firmly on their own ground instead of the grounds of their respective parties...
And this recall? so many of the messages I see are hogwash.... Our state is in a state of defecit... one way or another... we have to pay... it's as simple as that... We can't pay the deficit unless we do two simple things... cut the spending which is not high on our priority list and increase revenue to the state (increase taxes or fees here and there)... of course, we also have to try to maintain a good business environment and keep our infrastructure up to date... but wanting to keep a good business environment doesnt necessarily mean continuing to cut taxes.. and keeping up our infrastructure doesnt mean we need to break the poor camel's back anymore... Asking for a costly recall didnt exactly help either ( but perhaps it might help in the long run?) Look people, we had an economic downturn.. things are going to get bad one way or another... you can't blame EVERYTHING on gray davis... i'm sure there was some mismanagement (I'm sure when the checks were still fat, gray was like a giddy girl on payday or a fat man without his wife around <-- loosens his belt buckle a couple notches)... but even still.. we have to accept that these were gonna be not so good times... no matter how you cut the pie, its not going to taste good if you're cutting a crappy pie to start with... its like marriage... we have to work through the tough times and accept them... we cant just expect things to be merry all the time and blame the significant other for the hard times... in other words... DEAL WITH IT! I dont think things would be all that different even if another governor had been elected... and now gray davis has been made the scapegoat and sacrificed to the gods in our hopes for sudden improvement... even arnold's muscles arent big enough to cast our problems away... and if and when people notice this... what will ah-nold say? "It was guh-ray daybisses fahlt!"
I'm not saying arnold is a bad guy. I'm just saying thats the way politics work. Its like chutes and ladders only the chutes are lies and the ladders are blame. Although I will say I have lost and gained some respect for our state... it's good to see that we will all go out and vote and change things if we dont like them... but its bad to see that for a lot of people the choice was more of a result of bandwagoning than it was of logic and good information.. and I think in some ways our state looks like a joke now... we have the terminator as our governor.. I'm not saying hes a bad person, but how many of us laughed when jesse ventura became governor? how many of us feel like asses with our foot in our mouths now that arnold is governor? Oh well, I just hope he does a good job...
Things seem so simple in life.. but in all the political madness.. things grow complex, unnatural, and simply not right... I dont see how it is the republican duty to destroy the environment even if it is for the sake of business... isn't it common sense that the environment is an important issue? I mean who craps in their own room and leaves it there? No one wants to pollute their own little environment.. its too bad so many idiots cant apply the word environment on a larger scale... apparently they either havent been able to think for themselves or their minds are simply unable to perceive the complex and abstract thought that we all live together on one planet... the world doesnt end west of the pacific and east of atlantic.. yes, thats right... it all comes back full circle because the earth is spherical and they proved that 500 years ago... but for some reason 500 years isnt long enough for it to seep into the heads of people with such thick skulls... I understand that business and money are important but this is the life of the planet and everyone on the planet we're talking about... who cares about money when you have a gun to your head? people with thick skulls of course!
Ok... this seems like a very anti-republican diatribe but I'm not saying everything republican is evil.. its not like i'm going to go out and call them the axis of evil and have all of them hate me*ahem ahem cough* bush! I like the fact that the general mind set or at least the original general mind set for republicanism is being reasonable and level-headed about things... it was about giving people freedom (in fact, abe lincoln who was a republican, is best known for helping emancipate the slaves, GO ABE!) but apparently things have changed.. many republicans are just as looney and fanatical as the liberals they constantly deride... there are few who have stuck to the true path (perhaps john mccain falls into this category) of republicanism... Although there is one "republican" which I will shamelessly make fun of..... the one and the only king of the morons... Dubya! >=O
He's a dumbass or in less harsh and hateful words.. the man is ignorant... plain and simple... the funny thing is many a person will fight that claim... I've been told by quite a few sources "Did you know gore was a college dropout? Bush actually graduated from Yale." They expect me to eat that crap on a silver spoon with sugar on top. Based upon that fact alone, they expect me to believe it. So thats why I ask whatever happen to common sense and sensibility... I mean honestly.. if you were to have not known bush and gore... and then you talk to them on the street as if they were average schmucks and remained unaware of their political biases... I think just about anyone would say Gore must have been the nerd everyone made fun of in class and bush is the slow guy everyone was nice to just because he was slow... I think those people who say he's smart, resembe the fox that lost its own tail and tried to convince all the other foxes not having a tail was cool (its a fable)... Seriously, he's a belligerent little bugger... SNL made fun of him as being some childish dope who would go to war with Iraq as soon as he was made president and then make war with other countries as soon as he had some fun with Iraq... apparently their portrayal isnt far off because thats exactly what he's done... announcing a bunch of countries that he doesnt like was a brilliant stroke of foreign policy.. he certainly made north korea happy... why else would they have nukes now? they want to be just like big brother bush... the guy is against other nations having nukes... and then senate passes a bill to increase spending on nuclear arms development and he approves it... hypocrisy is amongst the greatest evils... we all do it to some extent but goodness.. its beyond tolerability... he is seriously a republican puppet with the hands of the far right wing and special interests far up his butt.... a small mind in charge of a large (and undoubtedly powerful) nation... shouldnt the path to peace be a relatively peaceful one? I know it'll have its bumps in the road.. but hey.. maybe dubya has a better way.. maybe if we all kill one another and there was no one left.. the planet would be a peaceful one and toxic green too!
I will say sometimes liberal ideas are far too lofty and optimistic to be considered realistic... and that spending too much time with your head in the clouds and too little time with your feet on the ground is pretty horrible... but I prefer the optimism (within bounds) as opposed to the hard-nosedness and reactionism of the right..
If I had my own party... one to rule them all... I would call it the party of responsibility... and I would have a person as my party symbol.. and in political cartoons you'll see the person bbq'ing the donkey and the elephant while reading a book.. oh it would be glorious... but I shouldnt linger too long in my dreams... *especially with so much work around here that needs doing*
Anyway, if you've read this then I'm sorry you had to read such a long political diatribe. I'm also sorry for the mild use of foul langauge and the general bad vibes I may have broadcasted via this electronic medium... I normally don't talk about politics because I dislike them... (poli.. perhaps related to the latin root poly which as a prefix means many... tics .. blood sucking parasites)......... but if you read the warning above, you didnt have to read this and you were free to skip.... and if you did read it... then I hope you found it somewhat interesting albeit long winded....
<== STOP SKIPPING! ==> Yes, that certainly is a lot of skipping....
Hey roo, thanks for the strongbad update... truly inspirational.. I now wish to increase my productivity... and I also liked strong bad's "appointment" ... (click on the word appointment on the post it once he's done reading the e-mail for all of you who dont know)...
Yeah, the six plate challenge always ends disastrously... its one of those admittedly stupid things that for some odd reason seems wonderful and enticing... sometimes when you look at it.. you say "oh my goodness, what the heck am I doing?" but for the most part you're inexpicably happy and gungho about it.. like kids that had fun continuously shocking and getting shocked by one another after rubbing their feet on the carpet... Anyway, one glorious day we will conquer the six plate challenge... I know I can do it.. if I had just 30 more minutes last time... I would have had room for my green tea ice cream which would have been my 6th and final plate... it's funny how we swear these things off but oh so stupidly we come back and do it again.... i guess that proves onami is great...
Only 3 plates lisa? hehe.. I guess from now it will be the four plate challenge for you =) I hope you're getting back in the swing of things and able to keep all your little monsters under control while you fill their brains up with the goodness of knowledge and the strength of education... Isn't it reassuring to know that just as fast as the weekends go by, so does the week itself? very soon it'll be friday again and you can set your mind at ease once the bell rings at 2:30 or 3... or whatever time it is that you get out...
And Kim, you're one lucky son of a gun... I wish to be a student extraordinaire like you.. you've worked hard, made it out with a year to spare, obtained a stellar gpa, you're being good about getting your transfer work done, and soon you'll be accepted and going off to learn pharmacy at the exquisite school of your choice... yes, I'm very jealous... oh yes, have fun going to the much closer mraz concert in claremont
In other Albert news.. I'm sorry I'm not sure if I will be able to spend time with my mokroopals this weekend =( Yeah I know... boo on Albert... this will be the first time in a long time.. but i'll definitely try to see you next week... I'm being taken away by friends that I have not seen in a while to go to knott's halloween haunt.. I know many of you dont like it anyway so you wont be missing out on much ( although I typically have a pretty good time there... sweet sweet adrenaline will once again course freely through my veins)... Yes, I'll miss you people too... but who knows.. maybe I'll be able to squeeze in some time with my much adored friends, the mokroopals... anyway.. Forgivuhness puhreez!

(poli.. perhaps related to the latin root poly which as a prefix means many... tics .. blood sucking parasites)......... but if you read the warning above, you didnt have to read this and you were free to skip.... and if you did read it... then I hope you found it somewhat interesting albeit long winded....
Yes, I'll miss you people too... but who knows.. maybe I'll be able to squeeze in some time with my much adored friends, the mokroopals... anyway.. Forgivuhness puhreez!
oh goodness gracious...i don't know where my head is.. =T i like to give you all friendly reminders of when people will be on tv, yet i never record them myself...i missed taping mraz today...that sucks. i was almost late for school...i was just really tired today and it was hard to get up this morning. oh well...and i forgot maroon 5 last week...and tonite, i forgot to tape ed and smallville...doh! it's ok...i hope this forgetfulness means that all of my energy and concentration are on school..hehe =) anyways, this is a short blog, but i will write more later tonite. now i shall attempt to write my discipline plan...remind me to write about back to school knight. =)
I miss you guys! I look very forward to the weekend ahead =). Guys, we've gotten through the hump...only two more days of insanity!! =). No worries....i know things will get better, i just have to get through this hectic week first =).
Kim, i'm glad you found a willing sucker for claremont! mraz maniac!!! woohoo for the spanish usage...so all that work proved to be worth it...=) and no worries, you'll get everything done, get accepted and feel spectacular, all this hard work now will pay off in the end =).
ah kress, you knew your kids would luv you, and i'm sure they'll still luv you're strict side too, everyone does! those kids need that connection and the structure, you're doing great =) oooh, i can't wait, when you have your class....imma coming to watch on my off track time =) hooray for miss nguyen =).
onami...+S...i'll be ready soon...however, next time...i'm taking the 2 and a dessert plate challenge...the perfect amount...then i can leave w/o feeling like a ticking time bomb =). albert, it's up to you and kress =)
hi roo...hope home life is well =) and the union too =)
patrick!! *waves hello*

No way, is Ah-nold really governor? Unbelievable.
Lisa, I hope your school picture turned out okay. I hope those fifth-graders aren't giving you heart attacks.
Yes, I finished my personal statement and finished stage 1 of my application to schools. They have an online central application that I have to fill out first and thankfully, that part is done. However, on thursday I have to go to UCI in order to get a hold of my transcripts. I will also have to pester my professor a bit to see if he has written my letter. :) The supplemental apps for UCSF and UCSD are due on Nov 1st, so I have to get myself into gear and finish the essays that those schools want me to write, in addition to getting my letters of rec together. Bah... so many things to worry about.
Something happened at work today that has never happened before. A customer brought in a prescription that not only consisted of 8 meds altogether (this isn't the unusual part) but was in spanish! The directions were literally in espanol. I don't know why the doctor would think that spanish is the primary language in this country and that all the pharmacies in the world would be able to decipher it... whatever. Fortunately for moi, I still had enough spanish reserves from over the summer, so I was able to translate them efficiently. :) Except that I don't know what renion is and we will have to call the doctor tomorrow to ask.
I asked Lisa if she wanted to go see Mraz in Claremont, but she declined. I did not ask the Taco however, because I figured he would not want to be the lone witness to my swoons and sighs. I bought two tickets without confirming anyone in hopes that I would be able to finaggle someone later. Luckily for me, I have. And in case anyone thinks that I'm crazy and will be seeing him 3 times that week, you should know that I have wisely traded the Las Vegas show for Claremont. Much closer and no need for pricey hotel stay. :)
Ah, bestill my heart. Jason Mraz tomorrow on The View. Things are looking well. Good night everybody.

sorry lisa for the stressful days...sounds horrible...i should be thankful for my kids shouldn't i? hehe..it'll get better...it can't go down anymore, only up =)

I hope your day wasn't too frustrating Lisa. Nothing a hot shower and some duncan sheik can't fix right? =)
Went to onami without you kim? THEY WENT TO ONAMI WITHOUT ME!!! I had to bring the two there and then back down from the six plate challenge they incurred!!!!!! I miss the grean tea ice cream.. for some reason, no other green tea ice creams taste as good as theirs... oh well, I cant gripe because it was my decision not to go.... I later gorged myself on lasagna that night so its ok... although... I still want to go to onami sometime... Lisa, Kress... let's have another six plate challenge sometime soon yeah? ^_~
Every weekend is short.. Life is short... so weekends are inherently short too... I have a feeling this weekend wont be any different for me....
Anyway, how's your website doing roo? have you finally decided on a new racket?
And Pat, if you're out there reading this... whats up? =)

Oh. My. God. You went to Onami without me? *sob* Oh well, I went had Korean BBQ for dinner and I'm way stuffed. I actually feel bloated like a cow. :)
No prob Lisa. It was fun Man. I'm tempted to visit you during one of your teaching days to see you in action. :D
Casablanca was so awesome last night. I've always liked the movie, but after seeing it in a movie theatre, it was actually awe-inspiring. However, although I do like the movie a lot, I was a bit troubled over the way Inga Bergman was letting all the men do the thinking for her. For some parts of the movie, she does take initiative, but then there are other parts where she just goes along with whatever the men what. There's one part where Humphrey Bogart says "Let me do the thinking for both of us." I don't know what to say about that. On the one hand, she's got a mind of her own so she should be able to think for her own. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind having someone think for me either. It sure is getting harder and harder everyday. ;)
Still, there's something about Humphrey Bogart in white evening coat smokeing a cigarette that is totally, well... smokin'. Plus, "As Time Goes By" gets me everytime.
Boo on short weekends!

Hallelujah! I finished my personal statement tonight folks. :D
So far, my plans to practice walking in tall shoes for Jason Mraz has been very painful. Meh, I don't know if I can do it!
Whoa Albert, glad that you're okay after your driving adventures. Just today I witnessed a 5 car accident myself, however, it wasn't a pile-up. It was more like 5 fender benders in a row all pulled over to the emergency lane at the right, but traffic was still backed up because morons of the world like to stop and look at people standing by the road talking on their cell phones. =/
Anyhoo, I will call you tomorrow Lisa about helping with your room, but I don't get off work until 1. Tennis tomorrow will be superb, but I'll have to jet before 6. I'm seeing Casablanca tomorrow at a movie theatre. Nice. =)

Today was a typical day for driving... the last two days were not..
The Yesterday's yesterday, it took me an hour to get to school.. it normally takes 15 minutes... I passed 3 accidents that day... 1st was a minor fender bender.. no big deal... then i saw a four car pile up... yeah.. they were all squished together neatly in one lane and one was partially underneath another car... everyone seemed ok... and the doozy... a charred gas tanker truck... yes, those big trucks that carry the flammable liquid for which I pay 2 bucks a gallon... what a fine day that was...
Yesterday, cruisin at 80 to school in the fast lane... a light blue taurus in the carpool lane completely SWERVES into my lane a good 10 feet in front of my car... and then, just as fast as they swerve into my lane, they swerve back and spin out to a dead stop nearly hitting me and the center divider... I came to a dead halt to avoid them and then jetted past them... o_o <^> <-- Middle Finger Salute! ( I'm giving the finger in retrospect, I didnt actually do it at the time) Yeah, I was a bit edgy after that... anyway, all is well now....
Ahhh, Kress is doing homework, Lisa will be grading homework, and Kim is working so that she can go to a place where they will give her homework....

So, a professor has agreed to write me letters of recs. His only stipulation is that I meet with him for an hour so that he may get to know me and that I bring a list of things that I want him to say about me in the letter. At first that sounded fine, but now that I'm actually trying to make the list, it's just weird. How does one write nice things about themselves? I'm used to pointing to someone else to have them describe me. To say nice things about myself makes me feel all ego-manaical. I prefer other people to say nice things about me. :D
Poor Kress. Fear not, you only have another year of this homework boo-hockey. =)
Where is this new website Rodel?
Pat blogged with us ONCE many many moons ago, and that was it. I boo on Pat! :I

okie...countdown...1 more day of freedom!! =( I love my job and I miss my fellow teachers...but, I don't want to go back!! I've been having too much fun being a vegetable and I never thought I'd say it but hanging out at home w/the family! lol =). OK, OK, duty calls and I must get back to life, as you all have =).
