My current obsession

My current obsession is work... sad but true. I can't even separate my thoughts enough to think about other things that I may obsess about.

Late musings, bc even though I love sleep, I hate going to bed right when I get home from work.

Peeps, dare we go tumblr? Just putting it out there...

Also, may we attempt a photo-a-day next month? I'm plan to start working on finishing the last one towards the middle of this month.

August 30th: Made you smile

I was digging out stuff from under my bed and found a sketch pad covered in dust. After I cleaned it off, I saw this inside. I don't know when I started drawing it or why I never finished it but it really made me smile. :)

Hanging out in MTV, I had to snack on one of my favorite treats up there and it certainly made me smile.  Actually, it takes about 5 bites to finish, so it's more like it made me smile 5 times!

Okay, this is not exactly a VW Bus.  Not that close.  But, this is the closest I came today to seeing one. The rental car company that I reserved a sedan through decided instead that I would look better in a mini-Van.  Are they trying to tell me something?

So, while at the OC Fair, my niece Tracy didn't really like any of the big rides BUT she really liked this one with the "groovy" VW vans.  She rode with grandma & specifically chose the pink one to ride in. =)

Oh, yes, this is about as geeky as it gets.  I'm wearing Birkenstocks WITH socks, and yes I'm proud of it; I have gone where most wouldn't dare.  The amazing comfort that comes with it is just unparalleled by any other footwear.  Go on... give it a try and tell me how you really feel about this dynamic duo.

Science teacher nerdy it is!! Last year I lost my tape dispenser - I don't know how. So I decided to buy another but it's in the shape of a frog! I've also bought this frog hoodie that is a dissection hoodie!! Unzip it & it's cut in half!! :)

Creative light and black and white - Took this shot a little while after Albert got his new DSLR. We were playing around with the uber-flash against a white wall. Kinda look's like a reverse of those old ipod commercials, huh?

Book I'm reading - How To Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran (screen shot from my tablet). This book is very funny and makes me reconsider my current positions on things women and feminists like to argue about. I heard about it on NPR.

Cozy...nothing like a freshly made bed in a Vegas hotel!

Owling or planking - Kind of a cop out on this one, since I didn't know how to take a picture of myself owling or planking. (As I write this, I'm alone at home and my smartphone is my camera so...) I made this years ago for my mom and I'm super proud of it!

Beginning of your day (on Wednesday) - Advil. I will just say that I was not having a good time on Wednesday morning.

Purple - Purple flowers taken during a trip to the Berkeley Botanical Gardens. I'm kind of impressed that my smartphone can capture this intense blue/purple color!

August 24th: Numbers

Numbers for today include my heart rate & calories burned during tonight's turbo kickboxing.

The other numbers you see would be my school's football game score (we were the visitors). It was at my alma mater so I just walked there & back home. :)

Funny night because some kids recognized me - they looked at me & talked about me and finally I said, "You know,you could say hello to me instead of just staring at me." then almost in unison, they said, "Hi Ms. Nguyen!" :)

Woah, ok, catching up on my photos 3 with these gems ;).

Beginning of My Day:  Thank you Starbucks.  Decaf while you may be, even that helps for these 5:00am wake-up calls...my first day of a new school year =).

Purple:  Cora's little alphabet pal sure keeps her occupied.  I must admit, this toy is pretty entertaining!

Numbers:  The grade level I'm teaching this year combined with the number of teachers the students have make the number of students in our class as of today.  Looks like Katie and I are going to have our hands full!
