oh yeah...you read right. it was definitely the best concert i've gone to yet..and we've been to quite a few concerts already.
soundcheck: the day started ok. it took a while for soundcheck to start...we didn't go inside until after 4pm and it didn't last very long at all. in fact, james was the only one on stage for a while and then the rest came out...minus ryan [sorry kim] they fiddled on a couple of songs and then they left the stage...adam played the drums for a while.
photograph: the picture made up for it. this time around, it was ticketholder & guest only in the picture...so lisa and i are photographed with the band. i'm standing in front of adam and mickey...lisa in front of james and mickey. i heart them even more every time we do one of these "meet & greets." they gave a new autographed picture [this one i like better] and then we left
downtime: so, after soundcheck there was about an hour and a half of nothing to do. lisa and i did work in the car while kim napped...and then off to the will call box to retrieve our tickets.
a glorious moment: now, the way fanclub does tickets is by seniority...so you know you get a good seat but the longer you've been in, the better your seat. i like that mentality!! [curse you local-83 & your 1st come, 1st served attitude!] our tickets were for center section, row 1, seats 3&4....w00t!! it was the most glorious moment...finally being a superfan has paid off. the seats were just about perfect...we were a little off center, but that's fine by me [as you will understand later].
openers: simon dawes & the thrills opened. both were quite good...especially the thrills. they were mellow but still rockin. lisa, kim & annie all went to meet the thrills and got pictures & autographs. i sat and dealt with my gi-normous headache.
start the show!: i must say...soundcheck worried me a bit. we saw no energy or jovial attitude. it was most definitely one of the most energetic shows we've gone to. the crowd was great...very energetic but not crazy. they played a lot of the album stuff...added in "wasted years" and "i can't stop thinking about you" which were both quite awesome. i really like wasted years...and this love was great cuz he had the crowd sing the first verse...the regular set ended with "sweetest goodbye" which is one that i've liked a lot but they've left that song out a lot of times we've seen them...it's adam and mickey's favorite. =) sunday morning was lovely...everyone was singing along and i think it was one of the happiest versions we've heard live. the encore consisted of "she will be loved" and "highway to hell" with ryan singing. highway to hell was incredible as usual...but it was even better than usual because james ran off stage and onto the floor, circling the arena...he stopped in the back for a guitar riff and stormed back onstage to sing with ryan.
2 reasons why it's the best concert: well, if you must know...during the show adam kept throwing the guitar picks into the crowd. he threw one towards me...it kind of looped so that it fell right in front of me. it fell right next to my foot...i stepped on it and picked it up so no one else would..hehe. so yes, i now have an ADAM guitar pick....w00t!! that was the middle of the show...and now i'm glad we were not in the middle...because everything flew off to the side..hehe. at the end of the show, after the last song...adam put the drumsticks on the ground and walked off...a crew guy picked them up and threw them towards lisa and myself...lisa caught the first one [quite exciting!] and the 2nd one i was about to catch, but the "old lady" next to me really wanted it...so she sort of shoved her arm in front of me and took it..hehe. i am quite happy with my guitar pick... =) so yes, lisa and i left with "gifts" from the boys. [TO PATRICK: I WANT THE JAMES GUITAR PICK - YOU MUST FIND IT IN YOUR ROOM!!]
yum!: after the concert, lisa and i were quite ecstatic..but starving. we headed to in-n-out and had a yummy cheeseburger, took some pictures with our lovely concert "gifts" and headed home...i graded for a second or two and then went to bed...
so yesterday was most excellent...this may even top troubadour [although, nothing will replace hi-fiving james and getting to strum his guitar]...in fact, it does because we were up front and no crazy people...
ok, it is now time to do some work...perhaps i will see everyone this weekend. have a lovely week and talk to you guys soon.. =)
